Winter Colour 2/4 Bitter Aloe

Bitter Aloe(Aloe ferox) Umngeni Nature Reserve.

One of four species brightening up the drab winter landscape in the Reserve. Specimen is estimated to be 3-4 m tall. It is on the edge of the valley below the Howick falls. You do not see them away from the edge. Far into the background is Albert Falls Dam. The last photo graph shows that A. ferox is colocated with A. maculata but not with A. arborescens which is only found alone where the edge is a cliff.
