Description

Mag. 400x
Test of a filose amoeboid found in a small, boggy habitat filled with sphagnum moss. The habitat is correct for E. cristata and the images here correspond well https://www.arcella.nl/euglypha-cristata/, also here http://protist.i.hosei.ac.jp/PDB/Images/Sarcodina/Euglypha/cristata/sp_03.html (Difficult to resolve in the microscope.)

  • A bog water sample was taken on 3/15/2022 using a turkey baster swished among the submerged stems of sphagnum moss. (The area sampled was ~circular, only 15' across, and was dominated by sphagnum. Large trees and shrubs shaded the area; a small brook flowed from the circular impoundment.) Air temp. 50F
