Description
Mag. 400x
Not sure about the ID. This specimen has more spine-bearing scales approaching the aperture than other specimens I've encountered. However, this is the first specimen I've of presumptive E. acanthophora obtained from a truly boggy environment.
- A bog water sample was taken on 3/15/2022 using a turkey baster swished among the submerged stems of sphagnum moss. (The area sampled was ~circular, only 15' across, and was dominated by sphagnum. Large trees and shrubs shaded the area; a small brook flowed from the circular impoundment.) Air temp. 50F
