Barred owl family a couple of days after the babies branched
Photo 1: Papa Owl Was Watching From One Tree
I missed the baby owls branching this year by a couple of days. I still wanted to look around and see if maybe they were still in the area. I heard a lot of hooting going on in an area of trees and went to check it out. First I found papa owl high in a tree & looking down at something. He was the one that was doing all the hooting.
Photo 2: Mama Owl Was Watching From Another Tree
I was looking around to see what Papa was hooting about and I spotted Mama a couple of trees over. She was quiet and also looking at something in a tree between her and Papa.
Photo 3: Baby Owl Peeking Thru The Leaves
When I walked around the middle tree I finally discovered what both parents were looking at. One of the newly fledged owlets was looking down at me. Super adorable.
Photo 4: Tree Fluff
Two hours later I returned to the spot where I'd seen the owls. There was no sign of the parents. The baby was in the same spot. It was all fluffed up and asleep. It opened one eye when I took a shot. Cute little ball of fluff.
