These juvenile painted turtles were collected as hatchlings by the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences, raised for one year in captivity to give them a stronger chance of success, and then released into Ottauquechee River on World Turtle Day to live out their lives wild. There were a couple three year old painteds and snappers released as well. Adding to the VINS Campus Index because they are technically wild now!
