I took a black light to search for scorpions. Come to find out, coiled snakes may initially look like cow pies in black lights. I also learned that if you try to take a picture with a cellphone while also using it as a flashlight, the light turns off, plunging the holder into darkness; in this case, coincidentally, at the same moment that a nearby venomous snake starts rattling.
