On ground under white pine and red pine in mixed woods. Cap up to 4 cm, brick red, darker sunken center (heavy rains overnight), pallid flesh. Gills pallid becoming rust, decurrent, close. Stem pale to dark brick red in age, up to 4 cm. × 6 mm. White milk. Taste mild. No distinctive odor. KOH on cap olive.
