Description

On underside/shady side of dead limb of living native mesquite (Prosopis velutina) in mesquite bosque at 3200’ elevation. Tremella sp on same limb (see obs 159008). White hairy upper surface; smooth fertile surface (some shallow indentations— are these pores?). No precip for over a month. A corticioid fungus—possibly in the Corticiaceae family. Any ideas would be appreciated.

3/3/14: Found what I believe to be the same thing after 2 days of good rain—obs 160676. The shallow indentions had become, in Gilbertson’s words, “reticulately poroid” and the colors more vibrant. See his description of B. corium in http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/pdf1976/gilbe76a.pdf, page 504,
