Common Name: Wine Glass Hydroid
Found on piece of algae that had washed ashore during low tide in Nahant, MA in October.
Habitat: Found from the Arctic to Florida in shallow water on rocks, kelp, and other algae.
Physical Description: Stems of hydroid are non-branching and can grow up to 1 inch in length, zig zag stems come off of a common base, whitish in color.
Fun Fact: The Obelia species also have a planktonic medusa stage!
