Description

This one is rather difficult to identify. It didn't have an extremely thin middle like other wasp species but it looks to be too big to be a honeybee. It did not hover and drink nectar like a hover fly. When it did fly, it's back two legs were hanging, reminiscent of a wasp and it did not seem to collect pollen on its legs like a honey bee. Orange hairs on thorax and a yellow underbelly. Photo taken at MacDill Marina in a grassy knoll with no trees overhead. The weather was sunny and 90F.
