Description

From the eBird comments: "but even this undeniably handsome creature paled in comparison to a beautiful little character I finally managed to see again after last having the honour at 0rmiston Gorge, all the way back in 2005!!! I was just coming back down from the Hill Walk when I noticed a wonderfully fluffy ball of fur perched in astonishment as it peered back at me from further down the hill... there, in a move I knew was possible but hadn't really factored into my calculations, was an absolutely perfect little Black-Footed Rock Wallaby!!! I'd completely forgotten how beautiful these creatures are; far from being some kind of "generic Rock Wallaby", they are instead subtly gorgeous in form and colour... the fur was beautiful and long, while the ears were very large and high-up on the head, reminding me of a Rabbit as it gazed up at me... the soft grey of the back and sharp, smart black gloves and boots were offset by blazing dual crescents of black and white on the shoulders, while the nape of the neck was a startlingly bright shade of blue-grey; this feature was undoubtedly the most beautiful of the lot!!! It actually grew so comfortable that it yawned widely, daintily hopped over to a nearby shrub, and soon began working its way over the hill while having a well earned meal!!"
