Locally common on limestone rock - gorwing on ledges, within joints and on rubble slopes with Chionochloa flavicans fo. temata, Coprosma robusta, Phormium cookianum subsp. hookeri, Senecio colensoi, Olearia furfuracea, Rytidosperma buchananii, Poa anceps and Veronica stenophylla var. stenophylla.
This is an apparently undescribed species which the late David R. Given had recognised. From what I can see of variation in this species this particular race has very long, narrow, stiff in-rolled leaves and a semi-scandent behavior and rather long (elongated) scapes.
