Flowering inflorescence from cultivated shrub the other image from an assumedly wild occurrence stemming from nearby plantings.
An interesting site - location comprising a former planted shrubbery that has become overgrown and neglected, and now sports numerous saplings and wildlings of various species. This one caught my eye because I have an interest in Banksia and this species and what I think is a race of B. aemula appeared to be naturalizing within the shrubbery.
I believe this species is starting to naturalise here because the assumed wild plant was found growing within a dense tangle of well established Sophora molloyi, Ligustrum sinense etc.
Fruiting heads examined had seemingly viable seed in them (well formed endosperm etc).
