Description

Small Calidris observed with Sanderlings, Dunlin, Western Sandpiper and Least Sandpiper at Abbot's Lagoon a few days before the Point Reyes CBC. Dark legs and feet, size smaller than Western Sandpiper, with a shorter bill, and in some photos the lack of any webbing between the toes can be seen.
The bird was fairly drab gray, and some uneven molt can be seen. Cleanly eliminating Red-Necked Stint is difficult from these photos but Keith Hansen and Steve Howell had some better photos of the same individual taken the following day which helped. Accepted by CBRC as Little Stint (2011-114).
