Scattered stalked sporangia 2-3.5 mm high. Sporothecae globose 0.9-1.2 mm diameter. Hypothallus conspicuous, discoid under single sporangia or contiguous under groups, dark brown. Peridium iridescent with mainly blue reflections, dehiscence irregular. Columella reaches approximately the centre of the sporotheca; capillitium arises from the full length of the columella, branched and anastomosing with perforations, light brown, colourless at tips. Spores dark brown in mass, brown by transmitted light with prominent spines, 15-16 microns.
