(how can I identify this as yellow-shafted, could not find that)
I was following the sound of a bird call I did not recognize. Turned out to be this flicker. It was enjoying some Chinese Tallow berries. No black mark on the cheek so it is a female. The flicker's legs and feet are the same color as the berries.
