Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus)

July 2019

Description

These feathers came from a bird which was being eaten by a red fox - the fox had been rooting around below bird feeders, then disappeared behind a bush, came out, and plopped down to eat. It got spooked and ran away when I got my camera. These three feathers were all that was left behind, but pretty sure I saw flashes of yellow feathers when I was watching it with binoculars before that, and this is a spot I regularly see flickers.
