Description

I came across these two anacondas on the side of the East Bank Public Road, alongside the Demerara River.

The small crowd informed me that the larger snake was a female and the smaller one a male. Both snakes had been 'muzzled' with black insulation tape wrapped around their jaws to prevent them opening their mouths. It was not clear where they had been found - together or separately - nor what was supposed to happen to them...

I estimated the larger snake to be approximately 4m in length and 45 - 50kg in mass while the smaller one may have been 'only' 2.5m in length and 18 - 22kg...
