I was siting on the shore of a reservoir in northern white pine/hemlock/red oak forest. This bee buzzed in close like yellowjackets often do. I started to slowly usher it away with my hand and it immediatly latched onto the knuckle of my middle finger and began a prolonged sting. I flipped it off into the water, but retrieved it. It died of its injuries an hour later.
