What

Copper Skink (Oligosoma aeneum)

Observer

pjd1

Date

January 2020

Description

Adult. I think female and gravid (we shall see what others who know more say). Noted by son 'stuck' in plastic spout of old discarded watering 'can'. Rescued and successfully liberated back into garden after suffering indignity of being photographed. This is the first copper skink I have seen on our property since February 2017 when we first started noticing rainbow skinks (Lampropholis delicata) had colonized the place, since then, until today we have only seen that introduced pest species. So a nice find.
