Description
White rock lake, base of the dam.
This is an artic sandpiper, breeds on the artic tundra and winter in the artic ocean. When they migrate it normally is over the ocean, not land. This bird caused a sensation in the birding community when it showed up at the WRL dam base. Probably the only one I'll ever see in my life. First time ever seen in Dallas county. When something like this happens, it is usually a juvenile that got lost. I was lucky I got some shots after hearing about it. The bird stayed there for about 10 days then was gone. Long enough for a lot of avid birders to see it and photograph it and add it to their bird life list. I will add the other 3 shots I got.
