Description

Tropidolaemus wagleri BOIE, 1827) (Waglers Lanzenotter)
Family: Viperidae
Subfamily: Crotalinae

The guide called it "ular bulan" (Bahasa Indonesia for Moon snake).
It laid about 1.5m above the ground in twigs of a small tree. The head was covered... so I made a mistake and touched it - softly - with my mono-pod. "She did not like it, I can tell from from her face".

Indonesia, N-Sumatra, 65 km W Medan: vic. Bukit Lawang (Mt. Leuser NP), ca. 350m asl., 28.09.2010
