Hashtag COVID-19. It seems to bring interesting people into the parks, along with their pets. This guy wanted to give his rescue bird and cat a nice outing. The male Aratinga on his shoulder was a riot. I asked his owner if and how he reacted to the feral Nandays we could hear in the background. He said the Aratinga ignored them, but was scared of Crows. At this moment a Crow flew by, ka-ka-ka. Aratinga answered with a call that sounded just like Nandays… The cat couldn’t get enough of the fresh grasses. Her owner told me he knew she liked grass and he had even bought her some, but it wasn’t the right kind or not fresh enough. OK, agreed, this isn’t exactly iNat material, but still worth noting, at least for my personal record keeping.
