Spotted Salamander in overflow 19 March 2020

While we do have two vernal ponds containing Spotted Salamanders, this one comes from an odd population that drops spermataphores in a deep farm pond and the females lay eggs on old vegetation in the littoral zone. The eggs hatch but do not survive the minnows and other predators.
