The small white submarginal dashes on the UNHW, perpendicular to the wing margin, indicate funereal rather than mournful. Also, this butterfly was perching in a territorial fashion on shrubs in a valley bottom. This is funereal behavior, whereas mournful is a hilltopper. Collected under NPS permit.
