Stealthy Ground Spiders (Family Gnaphosidae)

Description

This spider was found wandering across the living room floor of our holiday accommodation. My youngest daughter who is terrified of spiders screamed for me to kill it but I scooped it up in a glass to take a few photos before giving it flying lessens out of the window. So, no more worry about Mouse Spiders?
I was wrong. In the middle of the night screams came from the bedroom shared by both my daughters. After rousing myself from my slumbers and grumbling to myself, to investigate the commotion only to find they had encountered four more of these mouse spiders. One had even walked across my eldest daughter’s face as she lay in bed. Although not normally squeamish about spiders, it was her who had let out the loudest scream. Not sure how I would’ve reacted myself had one walked across my face. Needless to say, these newcomers didn’t have the luxury of an ejection
