Marié's mystery worms reared

2 July 2019:

2 Caterpillars collected in Cape Town garden on Parsley (Petroselinum crispum).

3 July 2019:

Both immediately buried themselves in the garden soil provided and stayed there. I could just about observe the process of underground cocooning and pupation through the bottom of their plastic tub.

11 July 2019:

After a short rest #1 pupated.

16 July 2019:

#2 was still visibly in caterpillar form in its underground cocoon.

2 July 2019:

I finally decided to check on #2 and found that the caterpillar had died and turned into a hard mummified version of its former self.

11 April 2020:

#1 emerged.
