Description

My husband spotted this lizard running across the pavement. He said that it was moving in a thrashing sort of way and reminded him of a sidewinder’s movement. He definitely felt that something was wrong with it. I’ve never seen this type of lizard running. I usually find them sitting still or just disappearing into plants so I don’t know if this movement was unusual. It stayed in this position, even with us photographing it, which did seem unusual so maybe it is wounded.

One other thing I noticed is that the tip of the tail looked shriveled. Instead of narrowing to the end, the last 8th I’d an inch or so appeared thinner, almost looking like a stinger. Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of that.
