Description

I came to the conclusion that my diatom was Gomphonema truncatum from many of its distinguishing characteristics. One thing that I noticed was it had an asymmetrical shape to it and decided to look at diatoms in that category. After I picked a category to start to look for them in I narrowed it down by a single stigma, stria patterns, and a "bow shaped" central area. At first I thought it was Didymosphenia, but after looking more at its shape and characteristics I decided it wasn't it.
