Welcome to the <3 Spider project

Curious about the diversity of spiders in Indonesia or Malaysia? Go for a walk in your garden or in local area and document the spiders you see on your way. Spiders can be found on the ground, on trees and bushes, and in your houses. They can have homes made of web, or be freely crawling about.

Please upload close-up photos of any spiders you see. But keep a particularly keen eye out for tiny little heart-shaped spiders (~3mm) living underneath leaves on small trees, bushes and plants. They come in lots of colours, from black, grey, or brown, to orange and yellow. The females may be found protecting an egg case containing lots of spider eggs, or found surrounded by spider babies. Males can be funny-looking with a spikey "tail" - almost like a tiny scorpion.

Enjoy discovering these helpful little predators, but please take care not to disturb them or their environment.
