Bachechi Open Space

Bernalillo County manages 13 Open Space properties (1000 acres) from the mountains to the valley that surround the Albuquerque metropolitan area in New Mexico. This dynamic network of properties encompass important natural and cultural resources managed to benefit people, plants and wildlife. Bernalillo County engages local citizen scientists through the Master Naturalist program to observe and document phenological and other natural occurrences to the plant and animal communities through iNaturalist and related projects. Help contribute to this project by recording your own observations at these properties using iNaturalist!

Bachechi Open Space is located in the north valley of the Albuquerque area. The property is 27 acres and includes a mosaic of habitat including wetlands, grasslands, a pecan grove, rose garden and arboretum. The property is also adjacent to the Bosque trail and Rio Grande. The areas is frequently used for resource-based recreational such as walking, landscape painting and bird watching as well as environmental educational opportunities geared to families, adults and children.
