BioBlitz @ Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest - April 23, 2016

Join us on April 23 for BioBlitz 2016- Finding nature on the Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest in Auburn, Alabama

What is a BioBlitz? A BioBlitz is a hands-on, citizen science event to promote interest in local biodiversity. Citizens will have the opportunity to work in the forest alongside scientists from Auburn University and the local area while discovering the diversity of insects, fish, fungi, plants, birds and bats that call the Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest (MOTDF) home.

Where? Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest, Moore’s Mill Road, Auburn, Alabama

When? This come-and-go event is open to the public from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm Saturday, April 23, 2016. Stay for a couple of hours, or stay for the day. It is up to you.

Who can attend? Anyone who loves nature and learning about the natural world! We invite the public including students, teachers, and families to attend this event.

Does it cost anything to participate? The cost is $5.00/per person for all participants 10 years old and up. Each participant will get an “Explorer’s Kit” which will include a notebook, pencil, and hand lens, along with information about Alabama’s forests and wildlife. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. Water, light snacks, and bathroom facilities will be available on site.

Directions to the Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest from downtown Auburn, Alabama.
Travel south on College St to E. Samford Avenue. Turn left on E. Samford Avenue. Travel 0.4 miles to Moore’s Mill Road and turn right. Travel 3.5 miles on Moore’s Mill Road. The entrance to the Mary Olive Thomas Demonstration Forest will be on your left. Go through the gate and follow the signs to parking.

Hi @friel! Any chance that this BioBlitz had its own project? I can't find one. I'm trying to account for all of the Geographic Alliance BioBlitzes on iNaturalist. Thanks!

I did not attend this bioblitz, and don't think they had an iNaturalist project for it. You might try emailing Dr. Becky Barlow, rjb0003@aces.edu to confirm this.
