This project is a joint effort by Madison Audubon, Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology and Department of Facilities, Planning and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We are collecting bird strike data across campus. We started in spring 2018, monitoring strikes in spring and fall migration, with the exception of spring 2020.
The goal is to determine how many birds are killed at key buildings, what building attributes are most associated with bird collisions, and to make recommendations for management to mitigate bird collisions as needed.
