This is a great opportunity not only to see what species can survive and thrive in and adjacent to the canal -a superfund site that suffers both historical pollution and regular CSO events- but to also have baseline observations as the canal is cleaned up. Last year, Gowanus Canal Conservancy recorded 241 observations over 138 species over the few hours of the Pilot Blitz, both by foot and canoe. This year, with your help, we hope to get even more!
