Seal of Approval for Region's Nature Challenge

We have had a very unusual wildlife sighting in the Bath and Bristol region, a common seal!

Although often seen in sheltered shorelines and estuaries, the seal was recorded in the River Avon between the Brislington and Hanham areas of East Bristol. One City Nature Challenge observer spotted the common seal munching on a fish, miles from the coast!

Not a common seal but a juvenile grey seal, it has a longer nose and it's nostrils are further apart or parallel compared to a common seal (closer nostrils, v-shaped) and shorter concave head
