City Nature Challenge starts at midnight!

Hello Bay Area CNC / nature enthusiasts!

The global City Nature Challenge has officially started (as of 5am our time today, Thursday 4/25, which is midnight Friday 4/26 in New Zealand)! We still have 8.5 more hours until we get to join in the fun – who is going to stay up late to make the first SF Bay Area observation???

We hope everyone gets outside, maybe meets some new people (or some new-to-you species?), and has fun during these four days! There are SO MANY EVENTS happening throughout the Bay Area if you'd like to meet up with other folks and explore nature together, or feel free to get out on your own or with friends and family and go to your favorite Bay Area spots to document species. And if you're excited about identifying the observations that come into our project, YOU ARE SO APPRECIATED!

If you're interested in seeing what's going on globally, you can check in on the citynaturechallenge.org leaderboard, which is the easiest way to see the total numbers since we've had to divide into two umbrella projects this year:
North & South America
Eurasia, Africa, & Oceania

We'll be looking for interesting observations to highlight both in some CNC infographics and in the results press release, so if you'd like to point our attention to a cool observation, add it in the chat here!

Thanks for being involved in the CNC – it's our amazing Bay Area community that makes the CNC so much fun and so successful!
