2020 BioBlitz-formal BioBLitz has been cancelled

Mark your calendars to join us for a BioBlitz at Coyote Run

Coyote Run invites interested naturalists (experts and learners) to join our effort to observe, discover and report on the diversity of all living things at Coyote Run.

The BioBlitz officially starts at 9AM and goes to 4PM but you may arrive and leave any time. Early birding activities begin at 7AM. Minnow traps will be set the night before for you to examine the day of the BioBlitz for those interested in amphibians, etc. We’ll have after hours owling. Bring a camper or tent and stay Friday and/or Saturday night if you like (110V hook ups are available). Morning snacks and lunch are provided.

Participants are asked to use iNaturalist to report observations to the Coyote Run project (manual methods will be accepted). We currently have over 4,700 observations and over 1,500 species. For iNaturalist specifics go to https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/coyote‐run‐farm .

No cost registration is requested. If you are interested in registering please send an email to tmfp@icloud.com. Include your name, preferred email, area of interest and if you plan to camp with us.

Coyote Run is a private farm on about 900 acres southeast of Pickerington, Ohio. About half the land is in agricultural production, with the rest in Conservation Reserve Programs or other programs. The near-term goal is to restore all non-agricultural areas to as natural conditions as possible. The long-term goal is to further protect and restore the property in perpetuity.

Habitats for exploration include wetland, vernal pool, riparian, pond, forest and prairie (warm season grasses).

Partnering with us is The Ohio Wetlands Association, a state-wide, all volunteer, 501(C)3, nonprofit organization. OWA serves to protect, restore and enjoy Ohio’s wetlands and associated ecosystems through science‐based programs, education and advocacy.
