Geographic Range

Phaseolus parvifolius is native to northern and southern Mexico and to Jalapa and Zacapa in Guatemala (USDA, ARS, National Genetic Resources Program 2015).

Freytag and Debouck (2002 p. 34) describe this species as "rare".

Habitat

This small vine grows in dry grassland parks and along stream beds in open oak–pine forests with Agave, Acacia and Calliandra where it favours rocky soils derived from schist, basalt, grantite or limestone (Freytag and Debouck 2002).
