Descanso Gardens needs your help to discover and document what lives in the gardens. The Oak Woodland, our first expansion in over 30 years, opened in November 2014. This garden recreates the oaks and meadows habitat of the Los Angeles Basin in the times before European contact. September 2015 brought another new garden, the Ancient Forest, a collection of cycads sited amid other plants of ancient, “living fossil” lineages.
With each new addition to the garden, different species are able to find a habitat here. Join us in this investigation to discover how many animal species live in the gardens. How many can you find?
