FAQ's

1) If I worked on the pollinator project in 2019 and remember where my bee bowls were, do I need to survey there for this survey?
~ While you can survey that same area within your MP, you can also expand to include other sites within the MP.
2) What is a site and what is a MP?
~ A MP (milepost) refers to the length of the mile. Ex: MP 189 would include 189.0-189.9. When reporting MP only use whole numbers. A site refers to the area within the MP you are surveying at.
3) How long should I survey?
~ The total time surveying a MP should be approximately 1 hour. If multiple people are surveying the MP the time is still 1 hour. If multiple groups are surveying various sites within the MP the total time should equal 1 hour. Ex: Group 1 at 189.2 and group 2 at 189.6 should aim each for 30 min.
4) How far off the road should I survey?
~ Depends on the area. Our first priority is safety. Only survey at areas that are accessible and safe to park at. You can survey to tree-line, but it is not a requirement.
5) What pictures should I take?
~ Any and all blooming flowers you see. Make sure to include pictures of the flower, leaves, stems, and size reference. If flowers are past their prime you can disregard them. We only need 1 batch of pictures per unique flower per MP.
6) I'm done surveying, what do I need to do?
~ First upload all batches of pictures to iNaturalist. Make sure to include them under our project, record the MP, and the date surveyed. Secondly, one person per group should fill our the google form. Record the MP surveyed, number of people per MP, and total time surveyed. Fill out a new form for each MP surveyed.

So we should upload them as Unknown even if we know what they are? Who will do the ID? What if we have used Newcombs or Seek and have an ID already?

It says above "2) What is a site and what is a MP?
~ A MP (milepost) refers to the length of the mile. Ex: MP 189 would include 189.0-189.9. When reporting MP only use whole numbers. A site refers to the area within the MP you are surveying at."

This is confusing. For example, I am assigned Site 109 and MP 109.6. It seems this should be MP 109 and Site 109.6 instead, and I should survey as much of the area between 109 and 110 as possible, correct?

If you know the ID please feel free to add, however this is not required.
In your example, you would survey between MP 109 and 110. When you survey within your MP you will likely survey at multiple sites, site just refers to an area within the MP.
