How to Participate

A bioblitz is a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible (iNaturalist). To participate in this event, you will need an iNaturalist account and camera or smart phone. From there, you can upload pictures of observations through the iNaturalist app or on iNaturalist's website.

Save the Date!

Join us on Saturday, June 8th at Fort Worden State Park for the BioBlitz event. The event officially begins as soon as the park opens at 6:30am (PST) and ends when the park closes at 9:45pm (PST). Join us at the Kitchen Shelter from 10:00am to 4:00pm for an in-person celebration of citizen science and stewardship! We will have booths set up in the shelter with experts in various biological fields to assist with identification and answer questions. Park Rangers and the Friends of Fort Worden will be available to answer questions about the park and Washington State Parks' role in preserving our natural resources.

This is a free event, and a Free Day for Washington State Parks! No Discover Passes are required for parking. For more information about Washington State Parks visit our website: https://parks.wa.gov/.

We look forward to discovering and documenting the wonders of the park with you!
