Misidentification of Fumaria Observations - USA

The following chart shows the number of observations for species of Fumaria found in the USA and the number of times each species has been misidentified in iNaturalist. Only the first six species have been charted for the sake of clarity.

Total observations (in the USA) are shown in green and the number of misidentifications are in red. Misidentification data was obtained from the 'Taxa Info' page in iNaturalist under the 'Similar Species' tab. The data were further filtered to include only observations in the USA.

One big problem with identifications of this species in the USA is an error in Jepson eFlora's key. The key only addresses 3 species of Fumaria, yet we know there are currently at least 10 species in the USA. Note the 48% misidentification rate for F. officinalis in the US.
