This iNaturalist project has been created by a group of Texas Tech graduate students in order to incorporate an element of citizen science into the planning process for a hypothetical park in eastern Lubbock, TX.
We would love for anyone to join our group and post observations from our project site. The information provided will be used by landscape architecture and natural resource management graduate students as we learn to make maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software that will guide management plan decisions.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing posts from... lovely sounding "Hell's Gate Park." Tourist attraction!
Also, make sure that anyone making observations/participating reads the 'getting-started' page:

G'day! Hell's Gate remains an interesting area much used by mountain bikers and hikers including myself. Despite the industrial appearance there are interesting plants and birds there in unexpected variety. One might hope that if/when one day it becomes a park that the variety of life there will not be drastically reduced. Which brings up another project.
I want to commend to your attention another project -- https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/mackenzie-park-wilds-the-endangered-non-landscaped-part-of-lubbock-s-mackenzie-park -- aimed at cataloging species and arousing interest in the hope of influencing City of Lubbock policy. This area of Mackenzie Park is right now on the cusp of destruction. All are invited to come and take a look at that area! And to spread the word!!
BTW, Mackenzie Park Wilds has a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1825012874221270/ Y'all welcome!
