Welcome to the Humpback Whales of the Mariana Islands (#MIhumpbacks) sighting project!

Have you seen humpback whales in the Marianas? If so, details from your sighting would be a valuable contribution to a scientific study of the ecology and movements of these little known whales. You can share your sighting information here!

Because humpback whales in the western North Pacific are listed as Endangered under the U.S. Endangered Species Act, iNaturalist has obscured the true sighting locations (placed them in the general area, but not at the exact location). If you add a sighting to this project, you and the curators of the Humpback Whales of the Mariana Islands Project will be able to see the true location, but others will not.
