Water Gathering Grounds – Wildlife Treasure Trove
Around one third of land in Hong Kong is considered as "Water Gathering Grounds". "Jockey Club – Fluvial Liveliness of Water Gathering Grounds" (JC-FLOW) provides educational support and communication platforms between secondary schools, public and the authorities. We aim at drawing attention to the conservation work of water and ecology in the Water Gathering Grounds.
Sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the three-year project managed by Green Power received full support from Water Supplies Department (WSD) and Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD). The first year of the project embarks on the Water Gathering Grounds where Shing Mun Reservoir situates, followed by two featured reservoirs in the coming two years.
Objectives:
- To understand the concept of Water Gathering Grounds
- To learn about the biodiversity of Water Gathering Grounds
- To learn about the tight relationship between ecosystem services and water supply
