Breaking Ground With New Groups and New Hopes

This year we had a student intern work with us to provide outdoor educational activities for children, maintain an interpretive garden, photograph events, and set up distance learning equipment to name a few of his duties.

We're looking forward to expanding our curriculum to include a block of instruction on invasive species taxonomy and management strategies along with many cultural events and teachings to connect the youth to Knife River Indian Villages.

We've met with a group of students from one of our participating schools and look forward to seeing them again soon. This will be their first visit to the site, so they will get to view the introductory movie, tour the museum, attend a ranger-led earthlodge program and trail walk as well as participate in a cultural event (hoop dance). I hope they enjoy it and hope they find themselves feeling more familiar and connected to the resources.
