Lawns of the World

I'm super curious as to what types of organisms make up people's lawns around the world! Lawns are often thought of as separate from wildlife because they're fairly human-cultivated, but they still contribute a lot to the ecosystem and make up a surprisingly large portion of the land on Earth!

This project includes organisms that are living only in the "main" part of a lawn, not flower gardens or forested areas. A good rule of thumb: a lawn is a maintained (or fairly maintained) area where the plants can be stepped and played on.

Originally, this project was meant to be plants-only, but fungi, small animals, and other life make up a significant portion of the lawn ecosystem as well, so I've expanded it :) I still think it should be limited to things living specifically in the lawn - so a rabbit nest is okay since the lawn is it's main living space, but a deer just passing through doesn't fit into the scope of this project. Fungi and bugs living in the grass are perfect, though!

Please also include any cultivated grasses and things that make up the majority of your lawn too! I'm curious as to what species are grown commonly in different areas.

Any lawns work great! ID the grass and fungi at your home, your neighbor's home (with permission), the grass in front of your work, anywhere! Remember also that you can obscure the location of your home if you don't want it online.
