Less Lawn: More Life! Campaign

"Less Lawn More Life!" is an iNaturalist campaign to document the changes in biodiversity as we transition some portion of our properties from lawn to meadows and beyond!

This competition runs from May 7th to October 7th, 2023. LLML is a collaborative campaign between Plan it Wild, Bedford 2030, and the Healthy Yards program, Aspetuck Land Trust, and Vermont Center for Ecostudies.

Rules!

1. The observation must be a wild, living thing.
2. All observations must be in the vicinity of your yard boundaries. (honor system here, obscured observations are ok)
3. Animal observations must be research-grade (Casual observations for cultivated plants are ok)

Your iNaturalist observations can tell us a lot about your local community! For research-grade observations, we will calculate a 'conservation value' based on number of observations, species rarity, urban affinity and IUCN status.

The survey and your observations will help us understand the diversity of life that inhabit different residential areas, and how yard management decisions affect which species can be found.
