One of three iNaturalist projects of the MaMA program (MonitoringAsh.org), which aims to help prevent ash extinction and mitigate EAB damage. The MaMA program was developed by and is directed by the Ecological Research Institute (ERI). In this project, participants report whether EAB have infested ash stands and whether any trees have died from EAB. It enables fine-scale tracking of EAB invasion and provides a foundation for MaMA’s other two citizen-science projects, “Monitoring plots” and “Lingering Ash”, both designed to help located EAB-resistant trees for use in breeding programs. The data for this project can only be collected June-August, when ash are fully leafed out. For instructions for this project, as well as important information for EAB management and ash conservation, visit MonitoringAsh.org.
