Project changed to new format - accumulation is now automatic!

Dear Monroe County iNaturalist users -

This project is now automaticized. This means that any iNaturalist observation from the legal boundaries of Monroe County will be included. This can be seen in the dramatic leap in sightings and species. Let's collectively aim for 3,000 species by the end of 2019!

Developing the Monroe County project for 2019

Dear Participants in the Monroe County (NY) project -

Thanks for all you do to help make this a thriving project on iNaturalist. The geometric growth of iNat continues globally. This project, and your presence, can help make the Rochester area into one of the vanguards of citizen-science in New York State. Tell a friend in 2019! Organize a bioblitz at a local park (happy to help with advice for that if anyone wants), take a morning to "iNat" your local patch, photograph insects in your house before escorting them out, enjoy wildflowers in perpetuity by placing them here.

As those of you who are my friends know, I have family in Rochester, but I live in California, so I can only make it here a few times a year, and often have family obligations when I am in town. But my heart is involved in fostering projects like this wherever I can, so please don't hesitate to reach out to me through leaving a reply here, or by sending me a message on iNat.

Have a happy, healthy, and nature-filled 2019 everyone!

Happy New Year, and Thanks for Participating

Dear Monroe County NY project participants:

Thanks for helping to make this a growing iNaturalist project since its start this fall. Hope to sponsor a Bio-Blitz in the county sometime in the spring, when we can start to add many more species to the overall list. Tell your friends about this project and iNaturalist: the most productive photo repository imaginable. Together we can document the natural world as it thrives, and changes, before our eyes.
